This module provides an overview of the process of efficient materials logistic planning, highlights a range of strategies to improve logistic performance and presents a plan for introducing materials logistic planning in your organisation.

An efficient logistics plan can have a substantial effect on minimising waste before it arises and creates a number of cost-saving opportunities including reduced material procurement and wastage, and reduced transport to and from site. The cost of wastage not only relates to the material cost but also productivity losses associated with multiple handling of materials and inefficient practices that arise from poor logistics.
